Ram vs. F150

Taylor ”Chief” Martin, Staff reporter

We usually talk a lot about cars but we have decided to compare two trucks that were both at the Auto Show. Both the Dodge Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150 are at the top of the list for trucks. But which one is better? Some like the Ram and some like the Ford so we have to be straight down the middle on judging these two working machines.

Let’s start off with the F-150. The F series truck has been apart of the ford truck family for a very long time. Since the first ford truck the f1 was out back in 1948. With its old style it attracted a lot of attention to it. Now 70 years later the f-150 is showing that it has what it takes to be a top of the line truck. With all of the specifications of the 150, the one fact that stands out is that the normal 5.0L V8 engine of the 150, back in 2004 Ford took that engine out and had put it in the super car GT, all they did was add one supercharger to it and it has 650 horsepower. For some of you that don’t get what we’re saying it means that the 150 has a pretty good engine. The cab is nice with a carry capacity of three people. With a towing capacity of 11,000 lbs and a payload of 3,000 lbs the F-150 looks good and does well.

Now on to the Dodge Ram 1500, with a 5.7L HEMI V8 engine in the super duty, but the normal one has a 3L V6. At the auto show the Ram was a big feature on the Dodge platform. The Ram is a huge truck and you may have problems getting in it if you a short person. Once inside the truck there is a ton of space inside the big cabin. You could easily fit five people in it. The Ram also is said to be one of the best trucks of the year. The Ram can tow up to 10,450 lbs, and can carry up to 1,900 lbs.

So to Rap up things both the F-150 and the Ram 1500 have there ups and downs but its you who will buy these vehicles and as fans of both we have decided that we can’t really pick which is best, but what we can say is that if you like a big truck that you can fit your family of four in it and get 25mpg then you should buy the Ram 1500, But if you’re into more power more payload and about 15mpg then buy the F-150.
